Emergency Preparedness Training and Resource Event

Register today to join a FREE I/DD Emergency Response and Resource Fair on Saturday, November 9th. This event is for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, their families, and support providers. The training is free, voluntary, and open to the public.

What does this event include?

  • Training from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

    • Learn how to prepare for different types of emergencies and natural disasters that we can expect to experience in the Portland Metro area, like wildfires and hot weather, ice storms and cold weather, floods, earthquakes, and power outages.

    • Participate in a Question and Answer discussion with the emergency management professional leading the training.

  • Resource Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    • Get information and resources from local county emergency and disaster management offices and partner organizations, including PGE, NW Natural, Pacific Power, Portland Water Bureau, PDX 9-1-1, and more.

    • See examples of emergency kits.

This event is a collaboration between Community Pathways, Multnomah County I/DD Program, Multnomah County’s Office of Emergency Management, and Oregon’s Office of Developmental Disability Services.

Cost: Free

Attendees: The training is for adults, but people of all ages are welcome to attend the event. There will not be childcare available, so please plan accordingly.

Accessibility: The building and restrooms are wheel chair accessible. Unfortunately, the training will only be offered in English at this time. A virtual training session being held on October 16th will be recorded with subtitles and translated into multiple languages. The recording and a packet of resources will be made publicly available later this fall. If you have questions or concerns, contact us (see information below).
