2024 Emergency Response Trainings and Resource Fairs

Earlier this spring, Community Pathways started a collaboration with Multnomah County’s I/DD Program to coordinate emergency response trainings for people with disabilities in partnership with Multnomah County’s Office of Emergency Management. This collaboration was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act Emergency Response Grant through Oregon’s Office of Developmental Disability Services.

Together, we coordinated four trainings and three resource fairs in 2024! The trainings were held on August 26th, September 23rd, October 16th (virtual training), and November 9th. Approximately 150 people attended the emergency response trainings in total.

At each resource fair, representatives from the State, tri-counties, City of Portland, and local non-profits and utility companies shared emergency response-related information and resources. The resources shared help answer questions like:

  • What should I do if the electricity, water, and/or gas in my house is shut off during or after a storm?

  • When should I call 9-1-1 during an emergency or natural disaster?

  • Where can I find more emergency preparedness information and resources specific to my local area?

  • What kind of supplies do I need to add to my emergency kit?

  • What kind of groups or programs can I join to help me build community and plan for emergencies?
